Overview
The Darke County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a network of volunteers dedicated to the health and safety of our community. The Darke County MRC consists of medical and non-medical volunteers who want to donate their time and expertise to prepare for and respond to emergencies and promote healthy living throughout the year. Darke County MRC members supplement existing emergency and public health resources.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Darke County Medical Reserve Corps is to provide volunteer medical, mental health, and administrative support during local emergencies, and to promote health and wellness in the community.

What We Do
The Medical Reserve Corps provides an opportunity for volunteers with medical skills, mental health skills, and a variety of other specialties to provide support during a public health emergency in Darke County and the surrounding region.

Membership Requirements
MRC membership is open to anyone 18 years and older that is a legal U.S. resident; citizenship is not required to be part of the MRC. Any MRC member that will provide some level of medical care is required to have been, or currently be licensed and/or certified and must work within the scope of their licensure. Non-licensed MRC members are required to at minimum have or obtain a nationally recognized CPR/first aid certificate. Assignments within the MRC will be made according to a member’s current level of licensure/certification. Members should participate in meetings, exercises and actual mobilizations.

If licensed upon admission to the MRC, members are required, as a minimum, to maintain the level of licensure/certification that qualified them to join the MRC, and are required to provide proof of relicensure/recertification when those credentials expire. Members are required to maintain a valid Ohio Driver’s license and remain free of felony and serious misdemeanor convictions.

The Darke County MRC does not discriminate with regard to race, gender, ethnicity, or physical capability.

The Darke County MRC is registered with the State of Ohio’s Citizen Corps Council (ohioresponds.gov) and the Surgeon General’s office (Medical Reserve Corp.)
