***Vaccines are safe and effective, don’t be tricked by false information

We recently learned from a social media post that an anti-vax group is offering cards with MISINFORMATION on the safety of vaccines to use as handouts to children during trick-or-treating (see below).

It appears that the group also plans to hold public rallies, using toy pinwheels to compare children’s vaccines to child abuse. In addition, we are aware that they continue to contact Ohio legislators in an effort to derail efforts to improve Ohio’s immunization system. We wanted to alert you that these activities may be occurring in your community.

Below is a copy of the Halloween cards.

Because of scientific advances, our children are protected against more dangerous and deadly diseases than ever before.
Vaccines are safe and effective, and they do not cause autism. Immunizations save your family both time and money. Each vaccine preventable disease a child or loved one experiences causes time lost from work and school, possible prolonged permanent disabilities or even death, and the risk of exposure to others including immuno-suppressed individuals such as babies under the age of two, and patients with cancer, diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis.

If you have any questions regarding immunizations, feel free to call the Darke County Health Department at 937-548-4196.
